RESOURCES

A big barrier that many theory and composition students face is a lack of materials and events that can be used to further one's own compositional skills. This page shows many of these resources, but is not an exhaustive list as Sewanee students are always striving to discover more. Click on the headers for access.

Composition is the practical application of music theory. Composition students will learn how to realize their musical ideas into a tangible and professional product, helping them further their careers as music makers.

Music theory is the exploration in the possibilities of music. In order to further students' musical talents at Sewanee, they are given the information and knowledge they need in order to strengthen their grasp in this field.

Students will be shown how to apply to events outside of Sewanee, with a comprehensive list of summer festivals and workshops designed to be perfect experiences for an undergraduate theory and composition student.

In order to pursue a career in music, it is important for students to be able to form and make connections outside of Sewanee. Learning how to get your music out there is just as important as the creation of the music itself.
